Aquamarine

Hey guys! To be honest, this isn't one of my favorite outfits but I think its important to show all the outfits I try because its an accurate representation of my personal style. I found this awesome aqua skirt in a thrift store last weekend and knew that I had to pair it with this brown belt. I went through almost every top in my drawers trying to find something that went well and came up with a few options. First, was a light yellow tee that made the look summery and youthful. This brown Gap shirt still kept it simple, but made it more mature so I chose this one! Sometimes when I first buy a piece I only look for the pieces that most obviously match. Then after I've had time to try different looks, two pieces I never imagined together make a new, interesting outfit. Just thought I'd let you know my thought process every night when I frantically run back and forth between my closet, dresser, and accesories table. (that's right, its a table....more on that later)

Denim Dream

Hey guys! This is the last of the marathon blog posts for today. I wore this outfit on Thursday, which, luckily, was our last day of school for the week. I've had this jacket forever (7th grade??) and the top isn't exactly new, but I never thought of wearing them together. It reminded me of this look and turned out to be my favorite mix of styles: ultrafeminine w/ boho. Originally I was wearing a cream headband with a bow but it made the outfit a little too "young" looking. I wanted a skirt that would go with the look yet not steal focus from the details of the top. This khaki skirt with embroidered flowered detail was perfect. I like the color combo, especially with the gold flats. Everytime I wear these shoes my history teacher comments saying, "You're wearing the golden slippers again!". I guess they are quite memorable.

Confusion of the Seasons

Hey guys! I love this outfit that I wore about a week ago. Basically, its jeans and a t-shirt, but the little details add up to make it an interesting outfit. My mom actually found this shirt at a thrift shop and asked me if I liked it because she knows of my coral obsession. The color of the top goes perfectly with a few beaded necklaces I got as a middle-school graduation gift. Weirdly, whenever I'm trying to match shoes with coral, I go instantly to these turqoise flats. Something about the two contrasting pops of color intrigues me. The mod/'60s watch went great with the other bold colors and shapes of the outfit. This outfit was a success! (it doesn't hurt that its super comfy too)

Ok I loaded this picture about 12 different ways but apparently the computer really wants it to be sideways. Yay for technology

Saved by the Bell

Hey guys! This is another outfit from earlier this school year. Whenever I style this skirt, my first thought is always schoolgirl so I used that as inspiration for this look. I like to wear form-fitting tops with this skirt because it accentuates the waist and gives more attention to the button details. The cardigan has the same look as the skirt: classic and feminine with interesting details. Since the outfit is pretty neutral, I added a sparkly headband and sandals. On the topic of headbands, I still like certain ones, but they're definitely fading from the raging popularity of the last few seasons.

Grecian Getaway

Hey guys! In the next few posts I'll be catching you up on the best outfits of the school year thus far. I wore this outfit a while ago, when it was still scorching hot. The idea for the outfit started with the top because I wanted to take advantage of the weather and keep wearing my summery clothes. Since the shirt is so voluminous I balanced it out with body-hugging bermudas. The gold cuff was a birthday gift a few years ago and the twistyness of the metal is similar to the embroidery on the top. While it makes the Greek Isle influence a little more obvious, the braided headband nicely ties together this outfit

Life isn't Black and White

Hey guys! Last night was horrible in terms of homework and I slept really little, but looking pulled together made me feel better during the day. I really believe in an outfit's power to lift your spirits and boost your confidence. Whether its a trendy new item or a well-loved classic, a great look always makes you feel comfortable and, in my personal experience, more energetic. When I dress in loose, casual clothing and wear my glasses it feels like I just rolled out of bed.
Anyways...with this outfit I really dressed against the weather. Waking up after 5 hours of on and off sleep to completely depressing weather usually makes want to curl up and die, but I forced myself out of bed and wore sequins. I like how sequins have become pretty mainstream for daywear and casualwear in the past year or so. I can actually wear this to school and get compliments that don't start in "WOAH, your shirt...." I've had these shorts forever and I love that they're a little more dressy than my denim or cargo-style shorts. Seeing as there is currently 62% humidity, tight or long clothing was not an option.

Seqiuns! This shirt is a good example of taking a trend and making it more wearable.
