The Little Details

Hey Guys! Its more than a week into summer break and its going great! At 7 am I head off to field hockey camp and that goes until 10. Last week my outfits were slightly cuter versions of the "shorts & t-shirts" combo, but they were still pretty casual. I realized that although I have absolutely nowhere to go some afternoons, I can still dress up, wear makeup, and accesorize. I bought this dress last week at American Eagle Outfitters and I love it. As usual, I tried to save it for the perfect occasion, but its more fun to just wear dresses whenever and where ever. I ended up using the belt it came with because my thick brown belt was a little too much "look". The silver earrings and sandals tie it together while keeping the outfit neutral. I like how this outfit is simple but the details like the beaded belt tassles, embroidered collar, and earrings add interesting touches. Best part? The dress was only $14. Dress: American Eagle Outfitters
Sandals: Loft
Earrings: Gift

These earrings are great! I never go looking specifically for them yet they end up matching everything.

All Natural

Hey Guys! So my mom took my picture today (usually its my sister) and she didn't exactly get the whole outfit. Since you can't tell, the brown jeans are actually bermudas. I wore this on a chill shopping day Monday with my fashionable friend of the week, Kristin. We hit a few stores and I found shorts, a dress, and a bikini. They'll be posted when I figure out accessories and stuff. I didn't need/want to look too fancy for the mall so I went with a patterned summer shirt and bermudas. I like how the jeans are brown cause you don't see that often. These shorts are actually one of the last things my mom bought without my imput-good job mom! Its really nice having all these "new" clothes to wear after I unpacked my summer wardrobe. More new pieces to come!
I really need some more go-to sandals because I wear these almost everyday

Fashionable Friend: Kristin

Hey Guys! I'm excited to announce my next fashionable friend: Kristin! I would consider Kristin one of my "clients" in this styling business I have going. She said her look has changed a lot in the last two years- for the better. As usual, I asked her to put together one look for school and one fancier look. The casual one consisted of Aeropostale denim bermudas, a white cami, grey boyfriend sweater, and blue floral flats. The F21 braided belt adds a little flair and color. This is a total Kristin look because she is a big fan of the boyfriend sweater and her look embodies the casual yet interesting feel.

Super cute flats! According to Kristin, she's not a floral person so I couldn't convince her to try on any prints while shopping yesterday at F21.

I conducted a little interview about style and shopping:
1. How would you describe your style?
I would describe my style as simple but sophisticated.
2. Why do you think personal style is important?
I think personal style is important because it’s such a great way to express yourself, as well as to convey to others a sense of who you are. If you’re wearing a great outfit, not only is it a great way to tell people the great things about yourself, but it also makes you feel so confident and bold!
3. Where do you buy the majority of your clothes?
I get a lot of my basics (jeans, tanks, plain tees) from Aeropostale or Old Navy; but I love stores like H&M or Forever 21 to get something nicer or classier.
4. What is your favorite bargain store?
Forever 21! It is such an adventure to shop there (and you eventually have to face the fact that you can’t look at everything), but there are so many different styles, and you can find great deals.
5. If you could steal anything out of my closet what would it be?
Any of your accessories, but especially your shoes! I’m in love with all your flats and boots – especially the black high boots and grey ankle boots.
6. If you had all the money in the world where would you buy your clothes?
I would buy clothes from those random little boutiques you happen to see all over the world…They can be really expensive, but sometimes the small, privately-owned clothes or shoe stores have the cutest stuff – and definitely the most unique!

Thanks Kristin!
I absolutely love this look for a few reasons. It started with the gray pencil skirt and flowy blue top which are super cute, but the metallic purse (from Paris!!) and aviators made it urban. The shapes in this outfit are great since the high-waisted, tight skirt contrasts well with the flowy, bright top. Its a great outfit and now all I have to do is convince her to wear it to school.

Kristin's older brother picked this out in Paris- good taste ehh?

Perfect Day

Hey Guys! These pics are from my first AMAZING day of summer break. First, a few of my friends and I went out to breakfast at the neighborhood diner. We hopped on the train and went to the beach downtown for a few hours. It was supposed to rain all week, but we totally lucked out and it was perfect beach weather. To top it all off, we met up with some other friends to watch the Blackhawks game and, as you probably know, they won the Stanley Cup!! Anyways, I wanted to keep my outfit flowy and summery for the beach so I went with a white tunic, that doubled as a coverup, and olive green shorts. The Zara tunic epitomizes summer clothes and was perfect for the beach. These shorts always make me think of nature, so they were the obvious choice. It was an awesome day thanks to the beautiful weather and my hilarious friends!!
Tunic: Zara
Shorts: Old Navy
Bikini: Old Navy
Shoes: Loft
Headband: Target
Sunglasses: Wet Seal

My floral bikini top made a cute undershirt on the way back from the beach.

Beaded headband added some sparkle.

Shades were necessary in the bright Chicago sun. I'm looking for some other styles though......

Oui, Oui!

Hey Guys! Its been soo long since I've posted, but its finally summer break which means new summery combinations and many more posts. I wore this outfit the day after the last post as part of the french-inspired week. The first one was pretty sporty so I made this outfit classy and feminine. I knew I wanted to wear the pencil skirt and lace blouse because they go so well together. The blue and white striped cami underneath gives the outfit depth and adds some of that french feel. I rounded it off with the fabulous silver sandals and silver Tiffany's charm bracelet. On the topic of sandals, I need a new pair for this summer: any ideas??

Blouse: Primark (London's F21)
Cami: American Eagle Outfitters
Skirt: Loft
Bracelet: Tiffany's
Shoes: Loft

For some reason this wouldn't rotate so just turn your head to look at it.
