Out and About

Hey guys! I was running around doing errands with my mom this afternoon in preparation for our New Year's Eve party. I didn't really have anyone to see so I just threw on my purposely-ripped jeans, a cami and cardigan. Keeping it simple, but tomorrow there will be lots of festiveness!! I'm holding a little "Fashionable Friend of the Week" contest at my party and then taking pictures of the cutest outfit. My mom and sister are also insisting that I post their oufits. Happy New Year's Everyone!

AHH!! my new sequin tee from Ann Taylor Loft. I've been stalking this shirt (if thats possible...) for like 2 months. I got a giftcard for Christmas AND it was on sale soooo I got it for $14 when it was originally $45! It was pretty sweet cause they ran out of it in the store nearby so I went downtown and they only had it in my size! Its very New Yearsy, but I already have a dress picked out so I'll find another occasion. I'm already invisioning it with a black blazer, dark jeans, and the fabulous black heels. Can't wait to post that!

Haha my attempt at making chocolate chip cookies. It was really weird because the ones on one tray were perfect and the other ones looked really thin...idk blame Martha Stewart, it was her recipe. There are sooooo many amazing desserts in my house right now; I'm having trouble not breaking into the kitchen and eating everything. It doesn't help that I just saw "Its Complicated" in which Meryl Streep played a cook who made mouth-watering chocolate crossaints. It was a good movie though; Alec Baldwin was hilarious. A Touch of Lace

Hey guys! I haven't posted in a few days because I've been sledding, making cookies, and (grrr) doing homework. This was basically the first time I've changed out of my field hockey sweatshirt since Christmas. I went out to lunch with my friend and then did major clean out in my basement. I've essentially worn this outfit before with a few things changed. I hadn't started the blog yet, but last time I wore black flats and a large pearl bracelet. The blue flats livened up the simple color scheme and the silver bracelets were a little more tasteful. My mom has these great pearl earrings that went with the outfit, but they're clip-ons (super uncomfortable) and I couldn't make it work as a brooch. I really love the simplicity of this classic outfits with small luxurious details. The cardigan has a crocheted panel that you can kind of see in the picture. The blouse is one of my favorites, and has a bow at the top and a lace stripe running down the middle. The charm bracelet and pearl bracelet just add a little shine.

Christmas!

The casual Christmas Eve day outfit. We just went over to my mom's friends house to have hot chocolate and exchange gifts. I wanted to be warm, yet festive so I wore my purple boyfriend sweater and flowered cami.

Christmas Eve night outfit. I wore this to dinner and then church. The dress was originally my confirmation dress, but surprisingly I've worn it a lot. I added the plain black tights and the amazing sling back heels to complete the look. When I got the dress, it looked really sailor/40s, like something from The Notebook so I hope there will be an occasion to accesorize it like that.

I got some great presents this morning, lots of stuff from my list and it'll be in outfits soon.

Stocking Stuffers!! I love the rice paper oil-blotting paper, so useful. The earrings are precious and the eyeliner and chapstick were kind of necessary.

Knit tights! I asked for these super last minute and my mom managed to find them somewhere. I've realized that I've worn my only pair of black tights like six times in the last month so I was craving some more. The sweater style is so cute and adds texture to any outfit. I just remembered that I posted at the end of one of my blogs that I needed new tights......maybe thats how my mom knew.

BAHHHH!! This has got to be one of the best presents I received because it feels so personalized. I'm pretty sure I'm one of three teenagers in the world that would love to get a human anatomy coloring book. My two friends and I are going to have a good time coloring this in.

SUPA CUTE!! This hat is very handy as the lacrosse season begins on March 1st and more times than not that means there's snow on the ground. (BRRR i'm getting cold just thinking about it) haha its pretty weird that its only cold like 5 days in the field hockey season and extremely freezing in the lacrosse season so I'll be advertising the wrong sport :)

Floral Photoshoot

Hey guys! Monday was our first day of winter break so my sister and I took advantage and did a photoshoot! The overall theme was florals; I was trying to brighten up the shortest day of the year. Then each photo had its own theme or inspiration. I love this look because its so over the top with the pearl bracelets, lace blouse, and huge earrings. I tried to tie in two florals so I wore a navy floral cami under the blouse. I liked this outfit so much I'm probably going to wear it to school when we go back, but unfortunately I can't wear the heels.

This is my little sister Olivia wearing her "Classic Floral" look. She wants to be a writer and is trying to be more adventurous with her fashion choices so I'll let her write her comments.

Olivia: Since we were doing high fashion what I did was pick out an outfit then Victoria would make it high fashion. On this one, I started out wearing the dress (really a skirt) as a skirt with the cami and a cardigan. Victoria dropped the cardigan and hoisted up the skirt. Then to make it more high fashion she added some giganto pearls.

This one was comfortable and bright with a belt and necklaces for a dab of fashion. I've worn a variant of this outfit to my friend's birthday party this summer. I'm pretty sure the top is supposed to be a dress, but recently its been looking a little scandalous so I wear my white shorts underneath. Also, since it was the sporty picture we did lots of fun jumping poses. Most of them have really embarrassing faces.

Olivia: My face is kind of embarrassing here but I don't know a lot of you so whateves. I liked this outfit because it was really cute and comfy. By the time Victoria "fashioned me up" it became a tennis looking outfit. My original outfit wasn't nearly as good. I was wearing the dress over black yoga pants with the pink version of the sweatshirt I'm wearing here. Victoria added leggings and switched hoodies and made it a good outfit.

This look was more Olivia's style than mine. I'm always telling her how 70s she looks with straight, middle-parted hair, tan skin, and long eyelashes. The inspiration came from the shirt I'm wearing and the dress Olivia's wearing, which are from the same season at Ann Taylor Loft. Both are my mom's, and she also has a sleeveless, ruffled one that we decided not to use. The sleeves on the yellow shirt are amazing and puffy. I kept accesories simple with the gold necklace and shiny sandals.

Olivia: I am so proud of myself for this outfit. All Victoria did was give me the dress and pin it up and I did the rest of the outfit. It turned out really, really, well! Victoria has been telling me that I should have been born in the 70's, because I am so naturally boho. It is a relly comfortable outfit. No wonder people like the bohemian look.

I don't think Girly Glam is the best way to describe this look, I was going for more Dolce & Gabbana. I started with the top, which is actually a dress that goes down past my knees, and turned it into a strapless top. It has these two seams that run down the bodice and a sweetheart neck that reminded me of the classic D&G corset silhouette. Since there is a floral theme, I added the pink skirt, which is actually a long-sleeve shirt, and embellished heels. The three glam bracelets make the look more interesting. If I had something more intense, like a chunky necklace or something, then it would really make the look.

Olivia: As usual, Victoria did most of the outfit designing. Actually, only the top(dress actually) and the shoes are mine. The skirt is Victoria's and so is the necklace. She also designed the hair. She didn't want me to look to "50's housewife". With the floral skirt and tight lacy top, it was a real concern of hers. I really like this outfit, I actually want to wear it in real life. (Victoria will need to pin it up though.

Fashionable Friend of the Week: Kathryn

I'm so excited to introduce my first fashionable friend of the week, Kathryn! I've known her since before kindergarten, I'm pretty sure, and luckily for me she can still stand hanging out me. Kathryn (nickname kiki) is one of my "clients" but as you can see she already dresses super cute. I'm guessing on the outfit above:

1. Who is your favorite designer?

my favorite designer is probably either Versace or BCBG, but i don't dress that formally or fashionably, so i don't wear either :)

2. Where do you buy the majority of your clothes?

Okay, i probably buy the majority of my clothes at target, hollister, american eagle, and nordstrom bp. but i also love some little boutiques in the city and oak park.

3. How would you sum up your style in two words?

my style is probably classy and casual

4. Why do you think personal style is important?

i think style is important because you can really set your mood with what you wear. it's important to feel confident :)

5. If you had all the money in the world what big fashion item would you buy and why?

i would probably get some more fashionable clothes, because i wear pretty cookie cutter clothes right now.

6. If you could steal something out of my closet what would it be?

haha oh so much of it, but i just lovee all of your high waisted skirts. they're really cute. i also am a big fan of your steve madden boots.

Comfy Cute

This is another outfit that I didnt' have time to post on Thursday. The tee is actually paint-splattered, if you can't see it in the picture. I liked the pop of color and comfiness of the dress and then added the tee and leggings to make it more winter-friendly. Hey guys! So I haven't posted since Tuesday night because it was crunch time for my research paper, but now we're on break and there will be many festive outfits to post! I really liked this outfit because the top was really girly and bright, while the bottoms are tough and relaxed. The combination of the two always ends up looking fresh. In a perfect world I would have knee-high tan leather boots, but hey you gotta work with what you have.

I have no idea why this picture refuses to face the right way. Theses are my favorite boots of the season from Nordstrom Rack. Although they match everything, I try not to wear them everyday or else the cuteness wears off.

Upper East Side Prep

Hey hey guys! I feel like I have to follow some grammatical rules or something because I'm in the midst of writing my first big quarter paper. Blog writing is the exact opposite cause you can ignore punctuation, spelling, and those nasty TRANSITIONS! blahhh my paper decided to delete itself into cyber space yesterday which ended in a crying session and then redoing work from Sunday night. I hate technology.

On a different note, this outfit was preppy to the max, which sometimes feels pretentious, but I was just in that mood today. I also felt really smart wearing it and I guess it payed off because I got 100% on the chemistry test I took today! A lot of nights I'm just doing homework or something and I get a vision of what I'm going to wear the next day. This is usually good because its some form of inspiration except that last weekend I really wanted to wear this cute outfit and in my mind I was wearing it with black leather ankle boots, BUT i don't own any sooooo that was disappointing. Each day has its own vibe and that is the biggest factor when I pick out clothes.

My black flats that will match anything. As much as I love them they are not the best for Chicago winters since they're not sturdy and made of this weird velour. I want some patent leather ones in the same style of my turqoise flats, but according to my mom that would be "excessive"

I got this striped (is that how you spell it??two p's?) oxford at a resale shop for $2. For the past fourteen years I have refused to shop at resale shops because anything donated in this century was most likely made in the 90's (UGHHGGH). Lets just say the nineties were unfortunate times for fashion. faded denim and baggy shirts anyone....

I like this picture because it shows the three textures and layers of the outfit. The shirt looked a little scandalous and plain without a cami, so I decided on the lace one.

This picture is annoyingly blurry so I'll explain the outfit. I'm wearing a cream short-sleeve blazer from Ann Taylor Loft (where else?) with a dark blue cami underneath. On the bottom I have Seven Jeans and gold flats. The look was simple yet classic and femenine. I really just wanted to throw something on that makes a statement without much styling.

Hehe I found all of these little bows from my childhood when I was cleaning under my bed on Friday. Surprisingly I found what I was looking for and much more! Its actually really fun to continually shove stuff under there until you don't know where anything is and then go on a treasure hunt in your own room. See, its easy to have fun in a recession! Back to my point, I'm trying to wear one of these bows every day because I have them in five different colors. During lunch we were talking about how you buy these girly, youthful things when you're like 8 and then pretend to be hard core in middle school by not wearing them. Like until last year I hated wearing dresses school, but thats all I wore in elementary school.

Skirts from the Past

This outfit is from last Tuesday since I am currently wearing a baggy gray sweatshirt and recently changed from navy sweatpants into jeans. There wasn't really inspiration, it was kind of Seventeen magazine style. I started with the skirt because I'm tired of wearing jeans everyday in this zero degree weather so the tights were a given. I never wear this tank top because it doesn't match anything, but it went with this perfectly. The sweater was also a must because my psychotic history teacher keeps his room at approximately fifty-five degrees. We had a substitute last week that actually asked us, "Is your teacher some kind of vampire or something, does he think he's Edward?"

This pic is even older, its from the end of October or something (as you can see from the bare legs). It was so comfortable and I love its simplicity. If I had my way, I would wear pencil skirts and cardigans everyday. Since it was like two months ago the only thing I remember about this day is that my contacts were acting up so I had to wear my glasses, which is fine, but along with this outfit I felt a little like a teacher. Twist on Classic

Hey guys! Today was the first outfit that I would consider a classic "me" look. Really I liked it without the leggings better, but its kind of extremely freezing so I decided against that. It could also go for a more artistic relaxed look with just the leggings and no skirt. Now that I look at the pictures, the look needs a pop of color, but I think it has enough detail. These Steve Madden boots are so comfortable and apparently go with everything in my closet. Its a new silhouette for me even though I bought the shirt and skirt in 8th grade or something.

My computer is freaking out on me and not letting me write next to the picture below. What I was going to write there is that the silver Tiffany's charm bracelet is one of my favorites and I wear it anytime I'm going for a classic look.



















Oh man this belt is also a staple of my wardrobe. I swear, anytime my outfit looks like its missing something or the silhouette is undefined, just throw on the belt and BAM! I have no idea where its from. I stole it from my mom last year and she never asks for it back even though I wear it in front of her almost every week. Probably I should expand and ask for some new belts for Christmas. I do have another thin black one that I also stole from my mom's closet, but another thick one would be nice.



I wore my hair down during school, for like the fourth time this entire year. When I got home I was just playing around and randomly french braided it. Somehow when I try to braid it in the morning for school my hair decides to stick up and act all crazy, but once I have nowhere to go it'll behave just fine.
