Houndstooth

Hey Guys! So I'm going to start off by explaining that the smudge on my forehead is from yesterday's Ash Wednesday service and I forgot to take a picture before we left. As for the outfit, it was plain in that it was two colors, but I really like how it turned out. I borrowed the skirt from my mom....I swear things just appear out of her closet and suddenly fit into my wardrobe. Its hilarious that almost every piece I borrow is something she never wears or would never style the same way. That reminds me of a Vogue photoshoot with a mother/daughter pair who shared most of their clothes and each had their own way of wearing them. Maybe my mom and I will do that in the future......
Ok so after that random thought, I wore a plain white tee with black cardigan and textured tights. I think thats what makes an outfit like this interesting; there's only two colors but the top is cotton, the cardigan is half crocheted, the skirt is wool, the tights are knit and the flats are velvet. All the textures make up for simplicity in color.
Tee: Old Navy
Cardigan: August Silk
Skirt: My mom's (got it at some boutique in NYC before I was born. Haha my mom just said she used to spend real money on clothes. That explains why all the cute stuff is from the late 80s.)
Tights: Hue
Shoes: Hand-me-down
Bracelet: Tiffany's

On the subject of Tiffany's, I'm super excited to get the earrings I ordered for my birthday! They are the Elsa Peretti Open Heart Studs in sterling silver. I'll post those as soon as they arrive.

Awkward angle and stance so that I could show the knit pattern of the tights. Also, they're supposed to be charcoal grey, not black.

Springtime on the Farm

Hey Guys! Oh man its been forever! I'm back in my semi-normal schedule so the outfits should keep coming for atleast the next two weeks. After that lacrosse starts and I have no idea how I will manage that while keeping up this blog. I'll try my best! So today was a simple outfit made slightly more interesting by some bright colors. I wore an embroidered, flowy top with my coral cardigan and "artist" jeans. Somehow, these blue flats go with as many outfits as my black ones do....weird. We didn't have school yesterday so today felt like a Wednesday (hence the comfortable/ not tights).
Top: Forever 21
Cardigan: Zara
Jeans: American Eagle Outfitters
Shoes: random tiny store in a Spanish mall
Bracelet: Christmas present

Close-up of the embroidered tank. My friend Hannah gave it to me for my birthday last year and I love it!

Haha so I usualy really fail at zooming in on jewelry and making sure it doesn't reflect the flash, but out of some miracle this worked out. The coral and blue contrast well and pop against the white.

Amazing blue flats
**BTW: the title is due to the fact that my crazy friend and I are raising baby chickens for a science experiment. Its quite exciting, time-consuming and frightening at the same time.

Update

Hey Guys! I feel really bad for not posting for a week, but I have a four day weekend to catch-up. I don't have new pictures from this week (only about 3 outfits are worth posting) so hopefully those will be up soon. Just writing in to let you guys know I'm still alive.

Also, I went shopping yesterday and bought this black and white strapless dress to wear out next weekend. Its from Windsor, which has so many cute dresses, blazers and skirts. I'll definitely post a picture when I wear it (not sure how I'm going to style it yet!)

TGIF

Hey Guys! It's been a long week that has thankfully ended on a good note. Tonight is our school's Valentine's Day dance, but, after much discussion, my friends and I are going out to dinner instead. It should be fun! So yesterday I wore my purple boyfriend sweater with a cream shirt and knitted grey tights. The black boots (BEST PURCHASE EVER) and tan belt made the outfit a little cuter. I like how it turned out really comfortable with just the right amount of details. I wanted to wear a long gold necklace, but it just didn't go.
Sweater: Marshall's
Shirt: Old Navy
Tights: Hue, Nordstrom's Rack
Belt: Vintage
Boots: Nordstrom's Rack

The Notebook

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't posted for a few days. I'll catch up tomorrow with pictures from Tuesday and Wednesday. Anyways, my friend and I decided to kinda match today. It started when she found a '40s style in her closet and I told her this polka-dot one sounded similar. From the minute I saw this in the store it reminded me of the adorable dresses in "The Notebook."So we both wore black tights and black flats to match. I wore a cream ruffle cardigan to make it more interesting and Hannah added a braided belt. The collar is this adorable roundneck with three bottons in the back. I haven't worn this dress in too many ways; it doesn't match many of my sweaters or jewelry. I'm happy with the look, but next time I'm going to try and make it more modern.
Cardigan: Ann Taylor Loft
Dress: H&M
Tights: ??
Shoes: Hand-me-down
Headband: Forever 21

Ruffles and Polka-Dots

I bought this headband in two colors and wore the red one on Tuesday. They girly, sweet and add a little detail to any outfit.

Grunge Luxe

Hey guys! Its a long post today cause I have pictures in addition to today's outfit. As you can tell from the title and picture, this look was a mix of classy and tough. I've actually worn this outfit, but that was in my pre-blog days. I have to purposely stop myself from wearing this blouse EVERYWHERE; it is so adorable. The pearls add more classiness while the boots play off the grunge of the jeans. I'm a fan of outfits that have contrasting looks because it makes it so much more interesting than going all out with one look. (that is fun sometimes though!)

Blouse: Primark (London)
Cami: American Eagle Outfitters
Jeans: American Eagle Outfitters
Boots: Steve Madden
Pearls: My great grandmother's

Theres detailing down the middle of the blouse

Ok so my friends and I have a few events coming up and we were wondering what qualifies as "fancy" or "dressy" or "nice so we made a 0-5 scale of outfit fanciness. I have an example from previous blogs for every look except for 0. Not that I don't wear really casual stuff, but I would not waste your time posting it.

Type 1: This picture is a little nicer than the average 1 outfit. Usually it would be casual stretch pants, jeans or shorts with a plain or striped t-shirt. Also, minimal jewelry and plain shoes. You would wear this outfit on errands, around the house, relaxing with friends, or to sporting events depending on your style.
Type 2: Just like the previous one was a little nicer than a 1, this one is a little more casual than a 2. A type 2 outfit is cute, but still comfy and simple. It could include sweaters, graphic tees, jeans, flats or Uggs, simple jewelry or tank tops. You can definitely wear this to school, shopping, out to lunch or the movies. Type 3: So I would consider the two outfits above as 3s with the skirt being on the fancier side. A three outfit is fashionable, a little fancier, but still casual enough to pull of at school. It could include casual skirts and dresses, blouses, sweaters, nicer jeans, flats, boots, nice jewelry, and cardigans with camis. You could wear these outfits to school, casual restaurants, casual parties and similar events.

Type 4: This is the first "fancy" outfit, but it is not the extreme. Type 4 outfits are too fancy to wear to school on the average day. They usually include skirts, dress pants, dresses, blouses, tights, fancy jewelry, flats, heels, fancy sweaters, embellished/flowy tops and blazers. You could wear these outfits during the holidays, at a show, out to dinner, on a job interview or to a party.

Type 5: This is the fanciest level an outfit can be. It is usually a dress, but can also be a trendy two-piece suit (do they exist??). A type 5 outfit would include: dresses with fancier fabrics, heels, jewelry, fancy skirts, cardigans and blazers. These outfits work at black-tie parties, weddings, bat mitvahs, and formal dances.
